In the first quarter of 2024, the Film & Television category has seen notable trends in Europe across major streaming apps. The following is a snapshot of the performance of the top five apps in this category.
Disney+ experienced a fluctuating trend in revenue, with a peak of $8M in mid-January, and a low of $7M at the start of March. Downloads showed a descending trend from 584K in the first week of January to 468K by the end of March. Weekly active users started at 20M but dipped to 17M in late February before climbing back up to 19M by the end of the quarter.
Crunchyroll showed revenue peaking at $1.4M towards the end of February and bottoming out at $1.2M in early February. Downloads saw a gradual decline from 148K to 101K, and weekly active users had a slight decrease from 2.3M to 2.1M throughout the quarter.
For Amazon Prime Video, revenue trends were inconsistent, with a high of $1.25M in the last week of March and a low of $915K in the third week of February. Downloads declined from 595K to 444K, while weekly active users saw a high of 11.4M in the first week of January, dropping to 10M by the quarter's end.
HBO Max: Stream TV & Movies saw its revenue reach nearly $1M at the end of January, with a subsequent decline to $849K in the third week of February. Downloads were highest at 171K in the first week of January and decreased to around 130K by the end of March. Weekly active users hovered around 1.6M at the beginning of January and ended the quarter at 1.5M.
Finally, Netflix had a revenue high of over $1M in late January, but this decreased to $826K by the end of March. Downloads started at 707K and had a downward trend to 514K. Weekly active users showed a decline from 44.6M at the start of the quarter to 39.7M by the end of March.
